Sally Field is Censored By Fox: Now that is a Surprise

Fox US producers of Sunday's Emmy telecast censored best drama actress winner Sally Field Sunday evening after she veered off into a remark criticizing the US invasion of Iraq.

"If mothers ruled the world, there wouldn't be any god -" she said when the sound went dead and the camera suddenly turned away from the stage so viewers would be distracted. Chopped off were the words "god-damned wars in the first place." According to the LA Times, the phrase was not censored in the Canadian telecast.)

I just read this on Salon.com and I am beyond shocked!! Fox fucking censored Sally Field on the Emmy Awards show for saying nothing other than "if mothers ruled the world there would be no more goddamned wars in the first place!!" What the fuck is wrong with this country?!!??!?! Not only do we have an idiot President who spends his days thinking of new ways to lie to and deceive the American peope, but now we have private companies censoring the words of American citizens at entertainment award shows! This is outrageous!!!!

John McCain wanting to kick MoveOn out of the country, Gonzales trying to force Ashcroft to sign off on domestic illegal wiretapping, secret CIA prisons all over Europe, the FBI infiltrating peace groups in california, and Sally Field gets censored by the GOP mouthpiece and neanderthal tV channel, Fox. God bless America, cuz we sure as hell need some help.

I just read in the NYT that Fox had the nerve to say that the censoring was due to "offensive" language. Are you joking? FOX...is now against offensive content. That is utterly hilarious. Let us see what they have put on the air in the last few years, beside the ever-offensive Fox News crew: Married with Children, which never had any offensive language, of course. REality TV shows galore, which were always the height of professionalism, and the list goes on.

I am saddened by what this country of my birth has become. I hold out hope for change, but it is hard when companies like Fox run so much, and control so many.

However, just as long as people, lots of people, keep asking Why?, things will get better. We must never resign ourselves to the mentality of "that's just the way things are." They are a particular way because of something...change that paradigm and the cards will start falling.
