Chafee said he disaffiliated with the party he had helped lead, and his father had led before him, because the national Republican Party has gone too far away from his stance on too many critical issues, from war to economics to the environment."
Said Chafee: "It’s not my party any more."
If Chafee left back in 2006 he probably would have had the Democrats full support. After all, he did not support this disastrous war from the beginning. I cannot help, but feel sadness for him, though some of his votes over the first six years of the Presidency were head turning. Just another reminder that money and special interests control politics.
