A New Gallup Poll

A New Gallup Poll (nationally) has Obama seriously surging on Clinton. As Josh Marshall points out at Talking Points Memo something happened on the 20th of January because the trend line is stark. Was it Bill Clinton in South Carolina? The debate? Who knows, but ten days ago, Hillary Clinton had a 20 point edge. With Edwards out, I don't think anyone has any idea what is going to happen.
It now stands at:
Clinton 42% (-2)
Obama 36% (+3)
Edwards 12% (-2)

Slate had a post today asking if Edwards helped Obama or Hillary by dropping out before Super Tuesday. Apparently no one is sure.

What do you think?

The San francisco Chronicle had an article stating (a poll actually) that 4 in ten Edwards voters go for Hillary and about a 1/4 go for Obama and the rest undecided.

It seems to me Edwards supporters are more in line with Obama, but you never know. Hillary's support is really all over the place from progressives to centrists. This election doesn't seem to make a lot of sense in some regards.

If Edwards throws his support behind Obama, obviously that helps him.
