well, in my very first post to this blog, back on April 27 of 2007, i commented on how refreshing it was to see elected officials display real emotion. i ended the post with the suggestion that if Hillary Clinton did it more often then "she would surely be the next president".
while i may eventually stand corrected on that proposition, la gran dame finally stepped out of the pants suit yesterday and into her emotional being.
yes, we all heard it on the radio, saw it on television last night, and then read about it in the paper today. it's been analyzed, dissected, and its sincerity questioned. Rush Limbaugh suggested that samples of Clinton's "tears" be sent to a lab to verify their authenticity. (just kidding.)
but i invite you to take in the moment away from the pundits, away from the political machinery, away from our natural, and healthy, cynicism about politicians. standing alone, i will appreciate it as one of those rare glimpses of genuine emotion normally verboten, especially for women, in this madison-avenue-media-age-blogocracy campaign season.
and somehow, if you missed it...
