In the caucuses for a candidate to be viable he or she must get the necessary 15% in each district. If that person does not get the necessary 15% the supporters must go find another candidate. Kucinich wants that candidate to be Obama. See below from political wire.
If he doesn't make the 15% cut in the first Iowa caucus ballot on Thursday, Rep. Dennis Kucinich urged his supporters to vote for Sen. Barack Obama as their second choice. Said Kucinich: "I hope Iowans will caucus for me as their first choice this Thursday, because of my singular positions on the war, on health care, and trade. This is an opportunity for people to stand up for themselves. But in those caucus locations where my support doesn't reach the necessary threshold, I strongly encourage all of my supporters to make Barack Obama their second choice. Sen. Obama and I have one thing in common: Change."
This is a positive development for the Obama campaign in my opinion. Kucinich supporters are an active group and four years ago they were told to go for Edwards, not Dean. It could also be in response to Nader supporting Edwards. Along with a new DesMoines Register poll showing Obama on course to win if he can get his followers to the polls Obama may be in for a historic evening. Of course it is all speculation until the voting begins.

This is a great sign for Obama - he has the support of the most progressive presidential candidate in the race for '08. Should he be elected, Obama should immediately create the U.S. Department of Peace and install Kucinich as its Secretary.
One can only hope...that would be wonderful.
