The Puerto Rican Winter League is Closing its Season

The Puerto Rican leagues are closing up shop after a long and storied history. It is sad. One of the reasons for it is the best players on the "island" no longer want to risk injury and play in a winter league. This is one of the many consequences of integrating leagues. The Negro leagues also died shortly after the integration of Jackie Robinson into Major League Baseball.
