Big Mistake?

Looking to shuffle their roster after an embarrassing collapse this season, the New York Mets found a new catcher and right fielder Friday.

The price: prized outfield prospect Lastings Milledge.

After holding onto Milledge through years of trade speculation, the Mets finally dealt him to the Washington Nationals for catcher Brian Schneider and outfielder Ryan Church.
I wonder about the Mets choices. Milledge could be on the verge of stardom, yet they traded him for a fielding catcher who cannot hit and an average outfielder. It doesn't make any sense. If in fact, Milledge could be packaged for Johan Santana or Dan Haren, then fine, but this is baffling. I will miss this young man's energy. I think if given the everyday chance he could have been part of the triple force of Wright and Reyes. Time will tell if this trade will be as bad as the Scott Kazmir debacle. If it is Minaya will have to answer some big questions.

Ryan Church can play. I had him on a fantasy team last year, and he did work. Not to sound too much like a geek, but if he could play for me, he can play for my cross-town rivals. And, Lastings, well, he made it hard for himself to last too long. Too many side-careers, and not enough time on the field. But, who knows, he may turn into a legend.
