Gonzalez Resigns: Why Don't They All Go?

Gonzalez is resigning. Hail to the Gods or the Secularists, whichever you choose. The NY Times says he will announce his resignation this morning.

Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales, whose tenure has been marred by controversy and accusations of perjury before Congress, has resigned. A senior administration official said he would announce the decision later this morning in Washington.

Mr. Gonzales, who had rebuffed calls for his resignation, submitted his to President Bush by telephone on Friday, the official said. His decision was not announced immediately announced, the official added, until after the president invited him and his wife to lunch at his ranch near here.

Check out Think Progress' analysis of how many times Gonzalez has said he will stay "to protect the kids" and other reasons. Word is Chertoff will replace him. Another incompetent who couldn't even visit New Orleans during the crisis of Katrina. He was at a conference in Atlanta and thought that more important.

wOOOW! Another piece in the puzzle falls into place. What was his rationale for resignation? Was it "getting back-to-family-time" for Al too? Or did he go another route than Darth Vader (aka Rove)? I just wonder how Bushie will spin this lying flunkie's exit stage left? I thknk we at the Garden should start a poll to decide who we think will fall next, sorry, resign next. The saga of the last 7 years of lies is far from over...that is one thing for sure.

For once, I'm happy to see someone one evil returned to my home state. It's still unreal to me that it's taken so long though.

I just saw this quote on Blue Jersey. I am paraphrasing: "Gonzalez will not be remembered as the first latino to head the justice department, but the dupe that allowed W. to run roughshod over the constitution."
