Independent film and the U.S. These days, what with corporate a part of every phrase that comes out of anyone's mouth, it is refreshing to hear about a movie that is truly off that beaten-path. Ballast, set in the Mississippi delta, is just that. With a cast of non-actors, and some amazing camera work, this film reminds me of what movies can be if they have half a chance to be different. I just read about this, and hope to see it either on the Internet or down here in Brazil. Check it out in NYC if you can.
