An Open Letter to Barack Obama from Alice Walker

There are not many truly inspiring moments in the world. They are few and far between. We are now living in one of those moments, however. It is a moment we should truly cherish and try to believe in. There will be time to get down to work and wonder what our new President will become. But, now it is a time to enjoy and believe that "we can seek a newer world." I came upon this today and thought I would share it. Pulitzer prize winning author Alice Walker writes a letter to our new President. Here it is on Democracy Now!

"I would further advise you not to take on other people's enemies. Most damage that others do to us is out of fear, humiliation and pain. Those feelings occur in all of us, not just in those of us who profess a certain religious or racial devotion. We must learn actually not to have enemies, but only confused adversaries who are ourselves in disguise."
