barista boy's look away project

(barista boy's accompanying poem to this project. see the video for an expanded and new version.)

Look Away

Look away
And tell me what you see
Or is it better
To ask
What are you avoiding,
While looking away?
Sometimes it is better,
When in doubt,
To stop and look away
Clear the brain from the obvious
In order to find
A better path.
Sometimes it is another
Way to run away,
Ignoring the obvious
And living in a
Fantasy.

What Are you Doing with your Past? (Empires Collapsed)

We all carry bags
On our backs
As individuals so much as societies
Collecting all past events
Good as bad
And taking them everywhere
Using them in the present
As a mean of identification
Saying: this is what we did
This is who we are.
In that sense we are all the same
Moving forward
While hanging on the past
But what are you doing with your past?
One way of dealing with it
Is clinging to it and living it
All through the present and into the future
Bad or painfull past turn
That way
To a sad and miserable future
While we are busy
Feeling sorry for ourselves
And keep our mind
Reliving the pain instead of overcoming it.
Glorious past is as bad to cling to as a bad one
Empire living in their past glory
Reliving history and on the process
Ignoring the ever changing world around us
Only to find one day that the glory
Have pass just like everything else
And the only glorious things
Are to be found in the history book.
Another approach is to use the past
As a step for the future
Using the past events
Good as bad as a mean of making
Sure that the future would be better
Less bad incase of tragic events
Or even more glorious
Incase of a past glory.
Nothing stands still in this world
And everything moves constantly
Evolving or just changing
Which make standing still
Living the past
A sure way for collapse.
So instead of digging into the misery of the past
Look into it in the present
And find ways to make the future better.
What are you doing with the past?

the laughing dolphin & barista boy's poem of the week

can you see the laughing dolphin in barista boy's cafe art?

2006

I wonder if

GALWAY KINNELL
Knew at 1971, when he published
His poetry book:

“The Book of Nightmares”,

That writing the phrase:

“…God is my enemy”

Would cause it to be

Banned from the bookshelf

In a coffee place

Hoboken 2006

And turn the book itself

Into a theological refuge.

I wonder if

It was a legitimate

Nightmare?

Or maybe it is turning

Into one?

On Cosmic Waves and Exotic Flavors

Someone had an idea
Somewhere in the past
“Let’s add Oreos to the Ice Cream
Mix it up within the cream
And sell it to the masses”.
Oreos, those mediocre cookies
That represent more than anything
The decline of society from
The home made goods,
Which were tasty, good
And well defined,
I mean we all knew what
Kind of jam grandma was using
And how she combined
The broken almonds in the
Dough while it was growing
Under the used towel on the
Counter in the kitchen,
Into an all automatic industrial
Products that looks neat
And taste OK, but any connection
Between them and the real world
Ingredients is by far
A mistake.
A combination of formulas
And artificial material to create
These even looking mini-mechanical
Cookies that tastes the same
In any box
Like something
Like nothing at all.
And now this idea came to the world
Where an ice cream turns exotic
By containing this exactly
Ingredient: the Oreo.
The Original Oreo
Exotic flavors for the masses
And they buy it, the fools.
